Newberry Man Dies After Car Strikes His Bicycle

Gregory Craig Wadsworth was a lifelong resident of Newberry, South Carolina.  On May 16, 2023, Wadsworth was riding his bicycle just before 6:00 p.m., when a 2014 Dodge Charger struck him near the intersection of Kendall Road and Louis Rich Road.  Wadsworth was transported to Prisma Health Richmond, where he died of his injuries later that night.  He was 50 years old.  Wadsworth was survived by his parents, one brother, and two sisters, as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins and their children.  One of his brothers predeceased him.

No additional information is available about the accident that caused Greg Wadsworth’s untimely death.  The accident is still under investigation as of May 2023, and news reports did not indicate whether the driver of the Dodge Charger was speeding or was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision.  The accident occurred in the early evening hours, when it was still light outside.
